| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of Niue at center, comprising a quartered shield bearing five stars of the Southern Cross in the first quarter, three sailing canoes in the second and third quarters, a coconut palm in the fourth quarter, and crossed picks in the lower right quarter. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked on either side by branches of New Zealand fern, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field.
