| 正面描述 | The obverse presents the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as a mature portrait at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend arcs around the upper periphery in Latin, while the denomination appears at the lower field. The portrait is rendered in fine relief consistent with the Royal Canadian Mint's collector-issue standards. |

The "Lucky Loonie" tradition began at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, when a loonie was secretly embedded beneath the ice at the hockey rink by icemaker Trent Evans — Canada swept both the men's and women's gold medals, and the coin became sporting folklore overnight. The RCM has periodically issued commemorative versions tied to Olympic and international competition cycles ever since.
This 2016 issue corresponds to the Rio Summer Games. Fine silver strikes of the Lucky Loonie are collector-targeted from inception and saw essentially no circulation.
