Aanvullende informatie

This issue belongs to Niue's long-running series commemorating figures from the Napoleonic Wars, produced under licensing arrangements that have made the island one of the more prolific coin-issuing territories relative to its population of roughly 1,600. Mikhail Kutuzov commanded Russian forces at Borodino in September 1812 — a battle so costly on both sides that neither could claim a clean victory, yet one that effectively began the end of Napoleon's Russian campaign.

Kutuzov's subsequent decision to abandon Moscow without a fight was deeply controversial and nearly cost him his command.
