| 背面描述 | Central colour-printed portrait of King William II (William Rufus), depicted in a three-quarter facing pose wearing a jewelled crown and royal robes, and holding a sceptre. The image is rendered in a painterly engraving style applied as a colour insert against a dark field. The arc legend 'HISTORY OF THE ROYAL FAMILY' runs along the upper rim, with three ornamental dots flanking a small crown motif at the base. The inscription 'KING WILLIAM II' appears along the lower border. |

Cook Islands has issued commemorative dollars under its currency agreement with New Zealand since the 1970s, and by 2009 the program had expanded into a sprawling catalog of gold-plated base-metal pieces aimed squarely at the collector market rather than circulation. William II of England reigned from 1087 to 1100, dying in the New Forest under circumstances that have never been fully resolved — an arrow, a hunting accident, possibly deliberate — with his younger brother Henry conveniently nearby and on his way to Winchester to seize the treasury before the body was cold.
