The Field of the Cloth of Gold took place in 1520, not 1502 — a puzzling date choice by the issuer, given that Henry VIII didn't even ascend the throne until 1509. The actual event was an eighteen-day diplomatic summit between Henry VIII and Francis I of France held near Calais, so extravagant in its temporary pavilions, jousting, and gold-threaded tents that it bankrupted several attending nobles and achieved essentially nothing diplomatically. France and England were at war again within two years.
