Edward IV seized the English throne twice — in 1461 and again in 1471 after a brief Lancastrian restoration forced him into exile. His reign saw the first use of the printing press in England and a significant reorganization of royal finances, but he left no surviving gold coinage that bears his portrait, as medieval dies depicted symbolic rather than naturalistic likenesses.
