| Beschrijving keerzijde | Full-color reproduction of Caravaggio's masterwork 'Judith Beheading Holofernes' (c. 1598–1599), presented within an ornate gilt picture-frame border that fills the entire square flan. The scene depicts the widow Judith, dressed in white and gold, gripping the sword mid-stroke as she severs the head of the Assyrian general Holofernes, whose agonized expression is rendered in vivid Baroque chiaroscuro. Her elderly maidservant Abra stands to the right, holding an open sack ready to receive the severed head. The dramatic interplay of candlelit flesh tones against deep crimson drapery faithfully reproduces Caravaggio's naturalistic Baroque style. The color printing is applied over the gold-plated silver surface, giving the scene exceptional visual depth. |
