| Beschrijving keerzijde | Left-facing portrait bust of President John F. Kennedy rendered in high relief at centre, with his characteristic swept hair and suit jacket visible at the truncation. The legend JOHN F. KENNEDY arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by bullet points. The dates 1963 and 2003 appear stacked to the left of the portrait, and the denomination $1 is inscribed to the right. Along the lower periphery, enclosed by star ornaments, appears the famous Kennedy quotation ICH BIN EIN BERLINER. |

The Pobjoy Mint, operating as a private striking facility on behalf of various island territories, produced this piece for the Isle of Man — one of the few jurisdictions that has issued Kennedy commemoratives with any regularity outside the United States. Kennedy's 40th assassination anniversary in 2003 prompted a wave of such issues from minor minting authorities worldwide, most of them copper-nickel circulation-format pieces aimed squarely at the collector market rather than actual monetary use.
