Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered across the trimetallic fields with the copper-toned inner core framing the portrait and the brass middle ring providing a contrasting surround. The Queen's mature likeness features delicately engraved curled hair, a drop earring, and a pearl necklace visible at the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery of the copper-nickel outer ring, while 1 DOLLAR FIJI 2010 is inscribed along the lower periphery, all in raised Latin lettering.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse depicts a prowling leopard in high relief positioned in the upper right of the brass middle ring, its spotted coat finely detailed, gazing forward with an open mouth. The lower portion of the inner field features an aerial view of Soccer City (FNB Stadium) in Johannesburg, rendered across the copper and brass zones with intricate architectural detailing of the stadium's distinctive bowl and surrounding structures. The outer copper-nickel ring is decorated with a stylised African tribal pattern of repeating geometric motifs. The inscriptions WM 2010 and JOHANNESBURG appear in the left field of the inner core in raised Latin lettering, referencing the 2010 FIFA World Cup host city.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of the Reserve Bank of Fiji's wildlife series issued in the late 2000s and early 2010s, this coin was produced under a broader Pacific-region trend of using high-denomination, large-format bimetallic and trimetallic circulation issues to target the collector market rather than everyday commerce. The Johannesburg mint — a division of the South African Mint — struck pieces for numerous smaller nations during this period, filling contracts that Commonwealth minting facilities weren't pursuing aggressively.

The trimetallic construction required precise blank preparation and sequential ring insertion, a process the Johannesburg facility had refined through its own domestic coinage work.
