Part of Cook Islands' long-running commemorative dollar program, this piece honors James I of England — the Scottish king who united the English and Scottish crowns in 1603 and authorized the translation of the Bible that bears his name. His reign also saw the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, the closest any conspirators came to killing an entire sitting Parliament.
