Below it, a small inset circular effigy depicts the right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, as engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the inscription ELIZABETH II encircling the portrait. To the left of centre, the fineness mark Ag 999 appears, while the date 2013 is inscribed to the right. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is prominently struck in the central field. In the lower portion, a gilt cartouche features a standing Cossack figure flanked by cannon barrels, and the Cyrillic legend ВИДАТНІ ГЕТЬМАНИ УКРАЇНИ (Outstanding Hetmans of Ukraine) curves along the lower border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Iwan Mazepa served as Hetman of Left-Bank Ukraine from 1687 until his catastrophic miscalculation at Poltava in 1709, when he allied with Charles XII of Sweden against Peter the Great. The Russian victory ended Ukrainian Cossack autonomy and left Mazepa dead within weeks, dying in exile near Bендери. Peter had him excommunicated and symbolically hanged in effigy — a condemnation repeated annually in Russian Orthodox churches for over a century.
Niue's role as issuer is purely administrative; the island's sovereign status allows third-party mints to produce legally denominated collector coins under its authority. The rectangular format is characteristic of this Ukrainian historical figures series.
