Reverse description The reverse depicts a dynamic composition commemorating Sir Francis Drake's circumnavigation and the discovery of Cape Horn. To the right, a full-length silhouetted figure of Sir Francis Drake stands prominently, rendered in a commanding pose. To the left, a detailed representation of the galleon H.M.S. Golden Hinde under sail occupies the lower central field, while a decorative cartouche featuring a crowned ship's device appears in the upper centre. The legend H.M.S. GOLDEN HINDE arcs along the left periphery, SIR FRANCIS DRAKE along the upper right, with the dates 1519–1522 inscribed in the field and the inscription 'The Discovery of the Cape Horn (Cape Estebaneja)' appearing in smaller lettering at centre. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed at the base of the design.
