Obverse description The obverse of this rectangular silver coin features a large colorized inset depicting a bust-length portrait of a man wearing a black hat and a vivid red scarf against an ochre background, rendered in the distinctive Post-Impressionist style of Toulouse-Lautrec. In the lower left quadrant, a raised rectangular cartouche contains the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara, as designed for the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait series, with the legend ELIZABETH II arched to the left. The denomination 1 DOLLAR appears in raised lettering at the lower right of the field. The inscription NIUE ISLAND 2008 runs vertically along the right margin. A small red monogram appears in the lower right area of the colorized panel.
