| 正面描述 | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara and a pearl necklace, as modelled by engraver Raphael David Maklouf; the engraver's initials RDM appear on the truncation of the bust. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while 1 DOLLAR curves along the lower left and TUVALU 2011 along the lower right, all rendered in polished relief against a frosted mirror field. |

Part of the Perth Mint's ongoing Australian wildlife series, this issue appeared the same year the IUCN was drawing increased attention to venomous marine species following a cluster of fatalities in Indo-Pacific coastal waters. The greater blue-ringed octopus carries enough tetrodotoxin to kill an adult human within minutes, yet no antivenom exists — a fact that lent the series genuine scientific currency beyond collector novelty.
