Reverse description The reverse presents an extreme close-up, high-relief portrait of the head of Phyllobates terribilis, the golden poison dart frog, rendered in meticulous naturalistic detail and filling nearly the entire field. The frog's large, prominent eye with its distinctive rounded pupil is depicted on the right side, while its broad, flat snout and characteristic wide mouth dominate the central and left portions of the design. A designer's monogram is incused to the right of the eye. The binomial scientific name PHYLLOBATES is inscribed vertically along the left inner border and TERRIBILIS arcs along the upper inner border, both in raised Latin capitals. The antiqued finish enhances the sculptural depth of the composition.
