Additional information

The 2002 Golden Jubilee dollar commemorates Elizabeth II's fiftieth year on the throne, an anniversary the Canadian government marked across multiple denominations simultaneously. Canada was one of the few Commonwealth realms to issue a dedicated circulation-quality silver dollar for the occasion rather than limiting commemorative treatment to proof sets. The Royal Canadian Mint produced both specimen and proof finishes under this type, accounting for the split catalog references.
