| 正面描述 | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, rendered in a refined portrait by engraver Susan Taylor, with hair neatly coiffed and a pearl necklace visible at the neck. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the upper right field, while '1 DOLLAR' appears along the left rim and 'CANADA' across the upper field. The date '2008' is positioned in the lower exergue, flanked by small dot separators. The portrait is set against a deeply mirrored proof field characteristic of fine gold coinage. |

| 背面描述 | The reverse reproduces the design of the historic French gold Louis d'or, featuring the royal cypher composed of two interlaced 'L' monograms surmounted by a royal crown, flanked by two fleurs-de-lis in the lower field. A circular legend in Latin reads 'VINCIT * IMPERAT * CHRISTUS * REGNAT' (Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands), separated by small star or dot ornaments. The entire design is encircled by a beaded inner border with reeded edge beyond. The deeply struck proof surfaces highlight the bold relief of the royal emblems against polished fields. |

The "Gold Louis" branding references the louis d'or, the French gold coinage that circulated extensively in pre-Confederation Canada and remained a common unit of account in Quebec well into the 19th century. The RCM issued this one-tenth-ounce piece as part of a broader push into fractional bullion coinage during a period when gold was climbing sharply toward the 2011 peak — spot hovered around $850–$900 USD at time of issue.
