| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs to the left and TOKELAU to the right, with the date and denomination ONE DOLLAR inscribed below. The field is divided into a dark inner zone surrounding the portrait and a gold outer border populated by a continuous frieze of royal regalia and heraldic figures — including a St Edward's Crown at the apex, orbs, sceptres, and mounted knights — separated by rope-twist divisions.
