| Obverse description | The crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right in the lower left quadrant of the field, with the engraver's initials IRB below the truncation. Adjacent to the effigy, a high-relief sculptural frieze depicts a classical allegorical scene with multiple draped figures, rendered in the manner of a Baroque architectural relief, with a winged lion motif at lower right. In the right portion of the field, a stylized outline map of Europe is engraved, marked with the names of European capitals including Moscow, Vilnius, Warsaw, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana, and Rome. The denomination 1 DOLLAR and the date 2016 appear in large characters at the lower center and lower right, above the issuer legend NIUE ISLAND.
