Reverse description Central field features a high-relief adaptation of a section of the Parthenon frieze, depicting two riders mounted on galloping horses in the manner of the classical Athenian sculptural program attributed to Pheidias. The foremost rider, nude to the waist with a short drape across the lower body, raises his arm dynamically, while a helmeted rider follows closely behind on a second horse in full gallop, both rendered with archaeological fidelity to the original fifth-century BC marble. A horizontal ground line separates the figural group from the lower field, where the denomination $1 appears in raised numerals. The Pobjoy Mint initials PM are incuse near the ground line at lower right.
