Reverse description Full-color reproduction of a fragment (panel 3 of 9) from the ancient Roman fresco cycle of the Villa of Mysteries, Pompeii, rendered in vivid polychrome enamel against a deep Pompeian red background. The scene depicts three figures in a ritual or Dionysiac context: a standing female figure at right draped in pale robes and raising a dark cloth, a seated woman in the center tending to a goat, and a third figure visible at upper left. A goat stands prominently in the foreground. A Greek-key meander border frames the upper edge of the composition, faithful to the decorative scheme of the original fresco. The image is presented within the full rectangular format of the coin.
