Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen in right-facing portrait at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded and wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 DOLLAR appears in the lower field. The engraver's initials SB are present near the truncation of the portrait.

Reverse description The reverse features a highly detailed design of three autumn maple leaves caught in motion, drifting downward in a naturalistic composition with deeply sculpted veining and lobed contours rendered in high relief against a polished field.
