Niue has long licensed its sovereign coinage authority to private minting operations — primarily the New Zealand Mint — producing devotional and collector series with no connection to the island's domestic economy. This piece belongs to the Stations of the Cross series, one of several religiously themed programs issued under Niue's name for the Catholic collector market.
