Additional information

Part of a broader Australian-market wildlife series produced by the Perth Mint on behalf of Tuvalu, this issue draws on a subject with genuine conservation urgency: the Florida panther population dropped to as few as 20–30 individuals in the 1990s before a managed genetic rescue program — introducing eight Texas pumas in 1995 — pulled the subspecies back from near-certain extinction. Current estimates place the wild population at fewer than 200 animals, all confined to southern Florida.
