Aanvullende informatie

This dollar was struck specifically for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization coin program, which recruited participating nations to issue specially marked coinage in 1968–1970 as a vehicle for publicizing the FAO's campaign against global hunger. Trinidad and Tobago's participation reflected the islands' agricultural export economy — sugar and cocoa — at a moment when the FAO was pressing Caribbean governments to align national policy with food security goals. The nickel composition was a deliberate departure from the existing cupro-nickel dollar series.
