Reverse description At centre of the field, the official Edmonton Oilers home jersey logo is rendered in full colour, depicting a circular emblem with a navy blue outer ring edged in red, enclosing a white field bearing the word OILERS in bold navy blue block lettering, surmounted by a stylised orange oil drop above a curved navy blue collar device. The coloured logo stands in vivid contrast to the polished nickel field. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim and DOLLAR 2008 appears along the lower rim in incuse lettering.

Additional information

Issued as part of the Royal Canadian Mint's NHL team loonie series, this piece was produced the same year the Oilers were still rebuilding in the post-Gretzky, post-dynasty shadow — a franchise that hadn't won the Cup since 1990. The colored circulation strike was an unusual departure for the Mint, embedding team-specific enamel into standard vending-machine coinage.

KM#722 distinguishes the "home" colorway from the companion away variant issued simultaneously.
