The background is rendered in dark tones, heightening the tension of the nocturnal mission. A gilt-finished disc inset in the upper centre bears the inscription DAMBUSTERS 75th ANNIVERSARY in relief. The arcing legend OPERATION CHASTISE appears across the upper field, with DAM BREACHED inscribed along the lower exergue area.
