| Beschrijving keerzijde | A richly detailed panoramic composition celebrating 150 years of Canadian Confederation commemorates the nation's transportation heritage under the theme 'Connecting a Nation.' The central field features a collage of iconic infrastructure and vehicles including a historic steam locomotive at left, a modern diesel locomotive at centre-right, a grain elevator, a railway bridge, the CN Tower, and a historic château-style building, all rendered in fine relief. A maple leaf within a circular motif occupies the upper centre of the field. The date range 1867 - 2017 is inscribed across the upper portion of the field, flanked by the legend CANADA arcing along the top rim and DOLLAR along the bottom rim. The engraver's initials WK appear in the lower right field. |

Issued in 2017 to mark the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, this dollar was part of a sprawling RCM commemorative program that produced dozens of distinct circulation and collector issues throughout the sesquicentennial year. The "Connecting a Nation" theme references the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885 — the transcontinental link that was itself a condition of British Columbia's entry into Confederation in 1871, delayed by over a decade and very nearly the cause of the province's departure from the union.
