Reverse description The central field features a symmetrical decorative composition incorporating the four national floral emblems of the Confederation's founding nations: the French fleur-de-lis, the Irish shamrock, the Scottish thistle, and the English rose, arranged in an interlocking design. The commemorative dates '1864' and '1964' flank the word 'CANADA' along the upper arc, referencing the Charlottetown and Quebec Confederation Conferences. The inscription 'CHARLOTTETOWN · QUÉBEC ·' appears along the lower arc, while 'DOLLAR' is rendered in spaced lettering across the lower field. The engraver's initials 'D.V.' and 'T.S.' appear in the design, the latter attributing the reverse to Thomas Shingles.
