Reverse description The reverse features a finely detailed depiction of two Common Eider ducks (Somateria mollissima) resting at the water's edge, rendered in high relief with meticulous feather texturing by engraver Stan Witten. One bird faces left in the foreground while the second, larger bird is positioned slightly behind and to the right, both conveying a naturalistic coastal scene. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper field, and DOLLAR curves along the lower periphery, with the date 2008 positioned to the right of the central design. The engraver's initials MI appear at the lower right of the central motif. A beaded border frames the entire composition.
