Cobb & Co operated the dominant coaching network across colonial Australia from 1853, eventually running over 6,000 miles of routes and carrying both passengers and gold during the Victorian rushes. The Cook Islands has issued a prolific run of commemorative dollars honoring Australian and British colonial history under license arrangements that have little connection to the islands themselves — a funding mechanism common among Pacific microstates since the 1970s.
