Additional information

This piece commemorates the Australian florin of 1910 — the first coin struck for the newly federated Commonwealth of Australia, and notably the first to omit any reference to Britain on its reverse. That original florin was produced at the Royal Mint in London, as Australian branch mints weren't yet equipped for the work. Cook Islands has issued under its own authority since 1972, making it a legitimate if sometimes commercially motivated issuing body for commemorative silver.
