| Obverse description | The obverse features a central medallion reproducing the effigy of King George V in crowned and draped bust facing left, encircled by the legend GEORGE V KING EMPEROR along the inner border. Surrounding this central medallion, the outer legend reads ELIZABETH II at the top and COOK ISLANDS to the right, both separated by decorative stops. The lower portion of the field bears the inscriptions 1oz 999 SILVER, the date 2011, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR, all arranged around the periphery. The design thus presents the third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as issuing authority framing the George V effigy in an innovative coin-within-a-coin format. The piece is struck in proof finish with deeply mirrored fields contrasting against frosted relief. |

| Reverse description | The reverse reproduces the design of the Australian 1934-35 Centenary Florin, depicting a semi-draped female figure with wind-blown hair riding a prancing horse to the right, emblematic of the founding spirit of Victoria. The rider raises her right arm dramatically, her hair and drapery streaming behind her in a dynamic, neoclassical composition. The legend CENTENARY·VICTORIA·MELBOURNE·1934-35· curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination FLORIN appears in bold letters within a recessed panel at the base of the design. A beaded inner border frames the entire composition, and the engraver's initials KG are visible at the lower left of the central design. The piece is struck in proof quality with polished fields that enhance the sculptural relief of the equestrian motif. |
