| 表面の説明 | The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is rendered in a refined, naturalistic style characteristic of Royal Canadian Mint collector issues of this period. The upper legend arcs around the effigy reading 'ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA', affirming her title by divine grace. |

| 裏面の説明 | The reverse, designed by artist John Horton, commemorates the 240th anniversary of Captain James Cook's arrival at Nootka Sound in April 1778. The central composition features a three-quarter standing figure of a Royal Navy officer — representing Captain Cook — dressed in 18th-century uniform with tricorn hat, holding a document or chart, positioned to the right of the field. To the left, a fully rigged sailing vessel, HMS Resolution, is depicted at anchor in the sound, with a longboat carrying crew members approaching shore in the foreground and a second vessel visible in the middle distance at right. A decorative twisted rope border frames the entire design. The upper legend reads 'CANADA DOLLAR', the engraver's initials 'JMH' appear in the lower right field, and the dual commemorative dates '1778-2018' are inscribed in the lower exergue. |
