Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile as an elderly woman, bare-headed, wearing drop earrings and a necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II flanks the upper field, with D·G·REGINA completing the inscription along the lower arc. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a smooth field, consistent with the standard Canadian coinage portrait used from 2003 onward.
