Beschrijving keerzijde The upper field depicts a standing bison at left, rendered in fine relief, before a dramatic mountain landscape with snow-capped peaks receding into the background. The inscriptions CANADA at lower left and PLATINUM at lower right flank the scene horizontally, with the mark FR appearing at far right. The lower half of the reverse features the same integrated dome-shaped transparent capsule continuing from the obverse, containing the 15 loose platinum beads. The curved legend TREASURES OF MOTHER NATURE runs along the lower rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Fiji's 2012 platinum bead dollar belongs to a short-lived novelty format in which a sealed central capsule contains loose platinum granules — the metal present in the coin's composition without being alloyed or plated into it. The practical effect is that the coin rattles. Whether the Elizabeth II obverse was chosen for Fiji's legal tender framework or simply contractual convenience with the Royal Canadian Mint, which produced similar bead-capsule issues in this period, is worth knowing before assuming the attribution is straightforward.
