In the lower half of the field, a large dome-shaped transparent capsule is inlaid into the coin, enclosing 15 loose platinum beads that move freely within the cavity. The denomination, issuer, and date appear in the lower exergual area as the legend 1 DOLLAR FIJI 2012. |

| Additional information |
Fiji's 2012 platinum bead dollar belongs to a short-lived novelty format in which a sealed central capsule contains loose platinum granules — the metal present in the coin's composition without being alloyed or plated into it. The practical effect is that the coin rattles. Whether the Elizabeth II obverse was chosen for Fiji's legal tender framework or simply contractual convenience with the Royal Canadian Mint, which produced similar bead-capsule issues in this period, is worth knowing before assuming the attribution is straightforward.
