Calico Jack — John Rackham — was captured by the Jamaican pirate hunter Jonathan Barnet in 1720 while his crew, reportedly drunk, offered almost no resistance. He was hanged in Port Royal that November, his body gibbeted in an iron cage at the harbor entrance as a warning to other pirates. The Perth Mint's "Infamous Pirates" series used his story alongside those of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, the two women aboard his sloop who, by most accounts, fought harder than anyone when Barnet's men boarded.
