Reverse description The reverse displays the full-color Calgary Flames NHL franchise logo as used on the home jersey, centrally positioned in the field: a stylized flaming letter 'C' rendered in vivid red with bold golden-yellow outlines, evoking both the team's name and the flame motif. The color application is achieved through an enamel or pad-printing process directly onto the coin's nickel surface. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper rim, while DOLLAR 2008 appears along the lower periphery. A registered trademark symbol is visible at the lower right of the logo.

Additional information

Part of the RCM's NHL team series issued ahead of the 2008–09 season, this circulating colored nickel dollar was one of twenty-three team-specific pieces released simultaneously — almost certainly the largest single-run of distinct circulation-quality commemoratives the Mint had produced under one program to that point. The Calgary Flames franchise itself dates to the 1980 relocation from Atlanta, where the team played as the Flames from 1972.
