| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark British Columbia's centennial of confederation — the province joined Canada in 1871 after being promised a transcontinental railway, a commitment that took another decade to fulfill and nearly collapsed the government of John A. Macdonald in the Pacific Scandal of 1873. The Royal Canadian Mint struck two varieties for this issue, distinguished by die axis orientation, which accounts for the dual Charlton references.
