Kladrubers are among the oldest horse breeds still bred to their original purpose — the Bohemian imperial court established the Kladruby nad Labem stud in 1579, and the breed has been maintained there with near-unbroken continuity ever since. The stud survived the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire largely because Czechoslovak authorities recognized its historical value and absorbed it into state control rather than dispersing the stock.
UNESCO inscribed the traditional Kladruber breeding and training system on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2019, four years after this coin was issued.
