Aanvullende informatie

The Blue Rock Iguana — Cyclura lewisi — was already in severe decline by 1995, with wild population estimates dropping below 200 individuals on Grand Cayman. The Cayman Islands' wildlife coinage series of this period drew direct attention to species under pressure from urban development, particularly the expansion of George Town and the island's booming tourism infrastructure, which had consumed much of the iguana's coastal dry forest habitat.

The coin was struck by the Royal Mint on behalf of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
