Obverse description Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed to the left and TOKELAU 2017 to the right, both running vertically along the inner border. Below the portrait, a decorative Tokelauan fakakai (traditional woven basket) motif is depicted, accompanied by a small scroll bearing the inscription TOKELAU MO TE NUKUNUKU. The denomination ONE DOLLAR appears in large letters along the lower field. The entire design is framed by an intricate geometric border inspired by traditional Tokelauan weaving patterns.
