Additional information

The Battle of Salamis in 480 BC was arguably the engagement that preserved Greek civilization from Persian absorption — Themistocles lured Xerxes' numerically superior fleet into the narrow strait where maneuverability was negated and Athenian triremes could exploit their disciplined ramming tactics. The Persian defeat effectively ended Xerxes' campaign in Greece, though he had already burned Athens.

Cook Islands became a prolific issuer of commemorative silver crowns from the 1970s onward, producing themed series for a global collector market rather than domestic circulation. KM#771 falls within that program.
