Additional information

Tuvalu has no historical connection to the American Civil War — this is a bullion-adjacent commemorative issued purely for the collector market, a practice the island nation leaned into heavily during the 2000s as a revenue stream through its licensing agreements with the Perth Mint. The Battle of Gettysburg, fought July 1–3, 1863, resulted in roughly 51,000 combined casualties and effectively ended Confederate General Lee's second northern invasion.

Perth Mint production under Tuvalu's authority during this period was consistently well-controlled, and .999 fine one-ounce silver issues from this licensing arrangement typically saw mintages under 10,000 pieces.
