Baotu Spring in Jinan, Shandong Province, has been documented in Chinese records since at least the Spring and Autumn period and was designated the "First Spring Under Heaven" by Northern Song dynasty poet Zeng Gong in the 11th century. Cook Islands has issued an extensive series of small-denomination silver pieces commemorating Chinese cultural and natural heritage sites, largely targeting the collector market in mainland China and the diaspora during the mid-2000s boom in themed bullion issues.
