Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt and engraved by Susan Taylor, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile as a mature sovereign at approximately 77 years of age, uncrowned and bare-headed, adorned with a necklace and drop earrings. The legend arcs around the upper periphery reading ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with the engraver's initials SB discreetly placed below the portrait. The truncation of the bust is clean and precise, set against a mirror-polished proof field. The portrait conveys dignified realism consistent with the Royal Canadian Mint's numismatic portrait standards of the era.
