Reverse description The reverse depicts a composite scene celebrating the ancient Roman city of Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To the left, a large monochromatic photographic-style rendering of a bearded Roman bronze sculpture bust dominates the field. To the right, an image of the Basilica of Aquileia with its prominent Romanesque campanile and characteristic mosaic floor detail occupies the background. At center, an amber insert is set into the coin, bearing a carved intaglio-style relief bust of a classical figure in profile, referencing the celebrated gem collection of Aquileia. The toponym AQUILEIA is inscribed in spaced letters along the upper arc of the field.
