| Descrizione del rovescio | Central composition featuring a high-relief rendering of the head of Alexander the Great, adapted from the celebrated ancient tetradrachm coinage of his era, depicted with the characteristic lion-scalp headdress of Heracles. Above the portrait, a raised Macedonian star shield with a sixteen-point sunburst emblem is prominently displayed, evoking the Argead royal symbol. Flanking the central devices, two horizontal colour-printed panels depict serried ranks of Macedonian pike-bearers with raised sarissas, rendered in vivid polychrome after the style of ancient battle imagery. The legend 'ALEXANDER THE GREAT' arcs along the upper rim in an archaic-style lettering, while the regnal dates '356 – 323 BC' appear in the lower exergue in matching script. The engraver's initials 'SM' are present in the lower field. |
