| Beschrijving keerzijde | A lively street party scene commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II's accession, depicting rows of terraced houses adorned with festive bunting and Union flags strung across the foreground, with crowds of celebrants gathered in the street below. The composition, engraved by Emma Noble, conveys a sense of communal jubilation through closely packed figural groups rendered in low relief against a mirror-polished field. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed in the lower exergue area beneath the central design. |

Cook Islands marked the Queen's Golden Jubilee with a commemorative dollar timed to the fiftieth anniversary of her February 1952 accession — an event that itself occurred while Elizabeth was in Kenya, whereupon she returned to Britain as monarch without ever having left Commonwealth soil. Cook Islands, a self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand, has issued commemorative coinage since 1972 largely as a revenue mechanism, and the 2002 Jubilee series was no exception, targeting collector markets rather than circulation.
